Day-rate pay calculator

A full day, half a day, or a portion you agreed. See the earning clearly.

To calculate day-rate pay, multiply the agreed daily rate by the portion of the day that was worked: a half day is 0.5, three quarters is 0.75, a full day is 1. If you agreed to prorate by hours instead, divide the paid hours by the agreed length of a full day to get the portion first.

Example $250 per day × ½ day = $125.00 Half a day is 0.5. $250 × 0.5 = $125. Three quarters would be $187.50.

THE MATH, MADE SIMPLE

A day portion follows the agreement

A day rate is an agreed amount for a full day. A portion is the share of that day you agree to record. A half day is 0.5; three quarters is 0.75. Multiply the daily rate by that portion to estimate the base earning.

EXAMPLE$250 per day × ¾ day = $187.50

Three quarters is 0.75. A full day at the same rate would be $250, and a half day would be $125.

When the agreement uses hours

Select “Work it out from hours” and enter the explicitly agreed length of a full day. Five paid hours out of an agreed eight-hour day is 5 ÷ 8 = 0.625 of a day. At $250 per day, that gives $156.25.

Keep these two methods distinct

An agreed half day is not automatically the same as four hours. Use the portion when you agreed a portion. Use hours proration only when you also agreed what a standard day means. Keeping that distinction visible makes later explanations much easier.

Amounts are estimates of entered agreements. This tool does not transfer money, calculate taxes, or certify pay-rule compliance.
